Displaying your Prints :: Photographer Brighton, CO :: Photos by Kelsey

How often is it that you have family photos taken, view your images, love them, and then can’t decide on what to order…. then once you finally decide what it is you want to order, you can’t decide on what size of print you want to order. Well… you are in luck!  This blog entry is all about helping you decide which size print is best for your needs.

I think the natural tendency for people is to choose an 8×10 size print.  They feel like it is big (because they are comparing to a 4×6, which yes an 8×10 is big in comparison), but really an 8×10 is the new 4×6.  Here is where I challenge you to step outside of your comfort zone and go with a BIG print… something like an 11×14 or 16×20… maybe even 20×30!  Here is where one thing that you have to make sure of…. if you want to display your photos in a tasteful arrangement, you can’t think that one large print will do the job.  You must display a number of photos in a thought out manner to really catch the eye.

I think the best display can be seen in the following image.  This image shows a 16×20 along with a few 8×10’s.  These are arranged in somewhat of a collage format which helps tell the story of the images.

Another thing to think about when displaying your images….. frames.  What kind of frame should you buy?  There are so many frames out there and really this is where you personal style comes in to play.   I challenge you to find a frame that represents you and your family.  Because you are displaying a handful of photos together, do you have to get matching frames?  Nope!  Just go for frames that look good together.  They can be different colors, finishes, and textures.  But… here is another thought…. no frame!  What am I talking about…. canvas!  This is an awesome way to display your photos.  The canvas wraps create an artistic feel in a room.  The require no frame and are quite eye catching.

No matter how you decide to hang your photos, you can’t go wrong if you have chosen an attractive size and layout.

If you have questions about how to display your prints, let me know, I would love to help!
